On May 7, 2016 I was lucky enough to capture the northern lights at Cochiti Lake in New Mexico. This occurred shortly after Prince died, so I titled the series Purple Rain.

Cecropia moth emergence video

We had a second cecropia moth emerge yesterday. It flew off at dusk and is likely a male.

A third emerged a little while ago and I managed to catch it in time to film the emergence.

This shows relative light pollution in northern New Mexico. The pin in the center is my location.

Here’s the Milky Way at dawn today, from my time lapse: youtu.be/B9lv2pnDd…

My sunset time lapse last night was nice too: youtu.be/JiOKEPPyQ…

May 13, 2019 the first cecropia moth emerges. I’ve had these cocoons in a safe place since July 2018. There are five more that may still be viable (one was eaten by flies or parasitoids).

Sunrise was beautiful today, captured while flying from Toledo to Chicago.

We buried the ashes of my mother and grandfather together in Toledo yesterday, next to my grandmother who died in 1983. My grandfather passed in 2006, and my mother on the vernal equinox last year.
